Fun with Furniture...

Sometimes it is great to have a little fun with a piece of furniture. This old tea trolley cum drop leaf table was given to me when an old friend of the family died. I think they were too lazy to take it to the dump and probably it would have ended up as firewood if you couldn't see the potential for it!

As you can see from the photo below it was old, tired and brown - poor thing definitely needed a facelift and that is where Autentico paints and decoupage glue came in handy. So we filled the holes and sanded it back a bit as there was some flaking varnish and bad scratches.

Once this was done I used Autentico Bright White and Bright Green Vintage paint to give it a good covering, I am aiming for a shabby effect so I applied the paint quite thinly and then sanded it back to get a distressed finish. I had some pretty wallpapers that I fancied using on it so I cut out the images and worked out where I was going to position them before sticking them in place with Autentico Matt Decoupage Glue.

When I was happy with the position of the pieces I stuck them down and then used Autentico Matt Varnish to seal and protect the surface. I cut out strips of a different vintage wallpaper and used these on the legs of the table to add to the Shabby Chic effect. Once all was dry I used Autentico Clear Wax all over to prevent chipping and bumping.

This is such a transformation on a very useful piece due to it's size and versatility. It is on castors too which makes it very user friendly, Perfect for use on the patio as well as indoors it is sure to brighten your home on a dull day!
